When the Decision Is Bigger Than the House,
You Want Someone Who Slows Down
I'm Linda Blackmon, a Katy REALTOR® with Keller Williams Signature. For over 20 years I've helped families, singles, and first time buyers across Katy and West Houston. More recently, I trained and dedicated myself to serving older homeowners and the families beside them, with the patience these decisions deserve.

When the Decision Is Bigger
Than the House, You Want Someone Who Slows Down
Selling the house is the easy part. The house isn't the legacy. The story is.
That understanding is why I work the way I do. I'm not the agent who walks in, tells you to paint the walls and replace the carpet, and says call me when you're finished so I can email you something to sign. I'm the one who sits down at your kitchen table, reads the paperwork with you, answers the same question a second time if you need me to, and makes sure you truly understand every decision before you make it. If memory or focus isn't quite what it used to be, that patience matters even more, and you'll always have it from me.

How I got here
For more than 20 years, my clients have been families looking for more room, singles buying their first place, and first time buyers I still love walking through that big, nervous, exciting purchase. I'm not going anywhere. That work is still close to my heart. A couple of years ago, though, something shifted. I was becoming a senior myself, and I started paying attention to what people my age, and my parents' age, were up against: confusing decisions, rushed timelines, and a steady stream of scammers and investors circling their homes with offers designed to take advantage of them. I didn't want to stand by and watch it. I wanted to be the person standing between them and it.So I stepped away from real estate for a while and earned my Certified Senior Advisor designation, a credential respected well beyond real estate, including across health care, because serving older adults well asks for far more than a license. I joined the National Aging in Place Council, and I studied Universal Design, the practical craft of what keeps a home livable as we age: no step at the entry, wider doorways, a bedroom and full bath on the main floor, the details that let a house keep working for the person in it.Here's what I came to believe. Most older homeowners would love to stay right where they are, and sometimes a few thoughtful changes make that possible. But sometimes the kinder, wiser choice is to sell a home that no longer fits and buy one that will, a place built for the years ahead. My work is to help you see every option clearly, then stand behind whichever one is right for you.
IF THIS IS WHERE YOU ARE
You may see yourself, or your mom or dad, in one of these.
The stairs have become a lot, and a single story home with no step at the door, or a welcoming senior community, is starting to sound like a relief. I'll help you weigh whether to modify the home you have or move to one that fits better, and when it's time to sell, I'll handle it.
You're caring for a parent while juggling your job and your own children, and selling their home is one more weight on your shoulders. Let me carry that piece for you.
You've lost your spouse, and the home you shared feels too quiet to stay in. If you'd rather move, I'll help you do it gently, on a timeline that's yours.
A fall or a health change has the doctors saying living alone isn't safe anymore, and suddenly the house needs decisions faster than anyone planned. I bring calm and order to the rush, so it never costs you what it shouldn't.
And if a loved one has passed and a home must be sold through probate, I'm trained to guide that too, with patience and care.
PROTECTING YOUR EQUITY
You've probably already seen the letters and gotten the calls: buy your house as is, fast, for cash. What those investors are counting on is that you won't know what your home is really worth, or that you'll be too tired or too rushed to find out. I don't let that happen to the people I represent.
When speed and a sell it as is deal are truly what you need, I bring qualified investors together and let them compete for your home, so instead of one quiet lowball offer, you get to see what buyers will actually pay. You keep the convenience. You just keep your equity too.
And because a move like this involves so much more than a signature, I bring in the trusted people who make the whole thing manageable: estate sale professionals, cleanout crews, contractors, movers, and, when your family needs them, referrals to the attorneys, CPAs, and financial advisors who handle what I don't. One steady point of contact for you, instead of a hundred loose ends.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
The truth about your home and your options, told kindly, even when it isn't what you were hoping for.
Time. I won't rush a decision this personal, and I'll go over anything as many times as you need.
Plain language, so you always know what's happening and why.
Discretion, because most of what we'll work through together is private.
And a real person on the other end of the line, before, during, and long after the sale.
If you like to understand things before you act, I share a good deal of guidance on my blog and answer common questions on my FAQ, so you can learn at your own pace.
Let's talk, whenever you're ready
If any of this sounds like you, or like someone you love, let's have a quiet, confidential conversation. No pressure, no obligation. Some people finish that first call having decided to stay put and adapt the home they already have, and that is a wonderful outcome. I'd simply rather you choose with good information and someone honest beside you.
Call or text me at 281-924-2222 or email Linda@LindaBlackmon.com.
I'd be honored to help you figure out the best life going forward, wherever home turns out to be.
